The children's study is a
new and innovative idea in design layout for today's
busy family. The children have their own area in
which to do school work and keep projects organized;
while the close proximity to the kitchen allows for the
easy supervision of school projects.
The children's study is an integral part of the living
area and needed to be sophisticated, while still appealing
to young children. Therefore, the design was executed
incorporating a soft safari animal theme. We have used
a custom awning window treatment, reminiscent of the
canopy used in safari vehicles. Drawing on the
colors of the Serengeti, the walls were painted
a golden tone. The glass backsplash with colors of russet,
gold and cream add visual excitement to the space. The
wall sconces and large hanging pendant provide ambient
lighting, further warming the study. We have used
color, texture and pattern to make this room appealing
to all ages.
The room includes dual computer work stations and
a high-low project table with an easy-care faux crocodile
surface.
We laid out the millwork design asymmetrically, adding
architectural interest to the room; with a built-in window
seat providing a comfortable spot to curl up with a good
book.
Note: This room is designed to grow with the family
and therefore serve in several capacities. Careful
attention to detail allows this space to convert
to a caterer's prep room, a walk-in pantry or a
chef's study. The under mount sink allows the children
to wash up after using paints and clay or the caterer
to prep veggies. Just think of the possibilities
of this unexpected and exciting room! |
