Learn about the Family Room Charles designed
Charles Dunlap is passionate about creating interiors that reflect his clients' signature lifestyles.
Charles Dunlap is passionate about designing individual client environments that reflect both function and personality. Influenced by the late architect David Adler, designer Jean Royere and landscape designer David Hicks, Charles’s trademark is the use of traditional design principles employed in contemporary ways. Equally at home reinventing a Miami Beach getaway, Chicago brownstone or Nevada bungalow, Charles creates intuitive, organic and fluid interiors.
Beginning his career designing retail interiors for JGA, Inc. and working on a variety of projects from Warner Brothers to the American Museum of Natural History, Charles began flexing his stylistic muscle and experimenting with an array of materials. He formed Dunlap Design Group in 2000 and has since served as a consultant to ABC’s popular Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
In addition, Charles has contributed to many local designer showhouses and been featured in such magazines as Beautiful Interiors, Detroit Home, Home & Design and Traditional Home.
In February 2008, Charles earned the Brian Killian Rising Star award from Detroit Home magazine. Formally trained at Wayne State University in Detroit, Charles holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers. |
