Michigan Design Center’s impressive advertising and marketing initiatives are often recognized as being leading edge. Our promotional plan is developed with a two-prong approach to reach both the trade professional as well as the end-user (the consumer).

Our trade initiatives are focused on maintaining consistent contact with our valued trade members by keeping them aware of new product introductions, showroom news, special sales incentives, events and more. Key marketing pieces include our annual directory, design notes, monthly .html newsletters, our website and more.

Our consumer efforts target high-income, geographic specific design enthusiasts. Our main goals are to make them aware of the exclusive products available at our building and to also introduce them to the idea of working with a design professional. MDC sponsors a number of industry and consumer events each year to further our position as leaders in the interior design industry. Our promotional strategy includes:

ENHANCED WEBSITES
Originally launched in the fall of 2009, our new websites (www.michigandesign.com for the consumers and www.MDCtrade.com for the trade) boast a variety of impressive features. Our newest enhancements, launched in January 2011, include an online Designer Directory that allows users to compare the portfolios, backgrounds, design styles and fee methods of the area's top design talent, all in one location. Users can even search by zip code, design style and specialties.

In addition, we launched our Inspiration Gallery which features over 1,200 photographs that are searchable by room type and design style.

SOCIAL NETWORKING
Michigan Design Center is committed to ongoing social network enhancements to our marketing and advertising strategy. In addition to ongoing search engine optimization efforts on our websites, MDC is relying more heavily on social networking avenues, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and more.

ANNUAL BUILDING DIRECTORY
A comprehensive guide to MDC, our Annual Directory provides our trade clients with a comprehensive listing of information about our showrooms, including contact information, manufacturer line listings and product categories represented in MDC. It is mailed each January to over 3,500 registered designers, architects and other buyers on MDC's trade mailing list of professionals located throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Northern Kentucky and Ontario, Canada.

DESIGN NOTES
Produced seven times each year, our full-color trade newsletter, Design Notes, is delivered to over 3,500 trade professionals and contains a variety of information regarding Michigan Design Center, including upcoming events, new product introductions, showroom information, special offers and more. Our Design Notes newsletter is also available online.

DIRECT MAIL INITIATIVES
A variety of direct mail pieces are sent out each year to thousands of consumers. In addition to educating them about all of the services and products available at Michigan Design Center, our direct mail pieces are our primary source of information to promote our consumer related events.

WEBSITE
Michigan Design Center is committed to ongoing web enhancements. Our impressive website features “log-in” capabilities for our trade members, allowing them access to online profile updates, visit tracking, one-click event registration and more. Our web site now includes search engine optimization strategies as well as an online searchable database of MDC showroom products.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Michigan Design Center hosts a variety of special events each year for both trade and consumers including Sample Sale, MIDEX, CEU seminars, Student Career Day, design-focused lectures, Fabric Fair and Consumer Awareness Open Houses.

ADVERTISING
A variety of advertising media are utilized by Michigan Design Center throughout the year to highlight our consumer outreach programs as well as to strengthen our position as leaders in the design industry. All vehicles are specifically targeted to a high-end consumer audience and each is continually analyzed and updated to ensure a maximum return on investment.

PRESS RELATIONSHIPS
Our staff of marketing professionals maintains strong working relationships with local press personalities. These relationships result in numerous coverage opportunities throughout the year.
