“Trend forecasting” is always a hot topic this time of year, so we asked designers and showroom staff which design trends they have seen emerge recently and believe will continue to gain steam in 2018. Conversely, we were curious to learn which trends they believe have overstayed their welcome.

September Lobby Vignette: Pamela Livingston Hardy

As you enter the “D” lobby, you’ll spot the comfortable-looking vignette created by designer Pamela Livingston Hardy. Pamela describes the space, titled “Family Friendly,” as “a family room that represents a space with room for all to relax, play games, watch TV, and gather as a family.” These showrooms graciously lent furnishings for the vignette: Duralee, RJ Thomas, Ltd., Kravet, and City Lights Detroit.

Refresh & Rejuvenate for Spring

Seasons change outside, so there’s no reason that interiors can’t also change with the season – and it doesn’t require a major style overhaul or big expense. Like wardrobes, our décor can go into winter storage and brought out again when the weather turns cool. Here are some suggestions on how to spring into action with your décor:

Take down heavy curtains that seemed appropriate for winter and install draperies with a lightweight fabric, like muslin, sailcloth cotton, or a silk-linen blend.
