Every aspect of this home was created with loving and thoughtful consideration, from the subtle changes in paint color to the custom white oak floor stain, and even this dramatic rhythm of oversized pendant lights along the foyer.

The custom metal hood is the star of the show. With two dishwashers and two sinks, we have created "zones" for prep work, cleaning, cooking, and storage. Thermador refrigerator and freezer columns create a tall wall that accentuates the high ceilings.

This luxury bathroom is the highlight of a newly renovated lower level completed in September of 2019 in Huntington Woods. From a steam shower to accent LED lighting, this small space packs in a lot of features.

The custom vanity has its sink base drawers pinned to reveal a cabinet for extra storage. The wall-mounted black faucet pairs nicely with Troy Lighting sconces. Under-cabinet lighting and changeable colors behind the mirror create an impressive viewpoint.

A bold floor tile gives just the right amount of whimsy against the main porcelain walls. The vanity wall has a plank tile that runs the entire length of the room. At the floating seated shower bench, we maintained a low wall to highlight the run of tile.

The shower head is Bluetooth compatible, lighting in an array of colors, while the niche has a hidden LED strip. Our custom-designed black frame shower glass completes the look of dark against light. Heated floors keep the space cozy and warm year round.

With custom black glass inset cabinetry in a white Shaker frame, we were able to accent the long single-loaded side of the cooktop wall.

By removing cabinet along one of the walls in this kitchen, we were able to create a light and airy space with larger windows that extend down to the floor as well as create a long island for seating. The result is an informal, welcoming gathering space.

In this stunning Art Deco kitchen a peninsula island was removed, creating space for a seated banquette. We were able to custom-design and build a curved mahogany island and curved bench to offset the straight dramatic dark lines of the main kitchen.

The full bath and shower off the lake provides easy access to clean up. The shower niche tile (seen in mirror reflection) is repeated in the shower floor, and sets above a long linear bench. This clean rustic bathroom is perfect for guests and family.

This lower-level bar is the focal center for a busy family of five. The kitchen area is concealed by a 42" raised bar. Glass cabinets and stacked stone backsplash keep the focus on the latest game while the undercounter ice maker ensures drinks on hand.

Our walk-out basement mudroom needed a functional and easy access point to the lake. Open shelving for clean towels as well as storage hooks allow for a quick exit to lake activities, while the lower baskets and bins allow for easy clean-up each evening.

Design Philosophy

Stalburg Design specializes in luxury residential architecture and interior design. After several years in corporate design firms, Barbi Stalburg Kasoff gained extensive knowledge in architecture, urban design, and project management. She has worked in cities across the country in construction, neighborhood development, and master plans, and has spent the last 10 years narrowing that scale to luxury residential design.

Our company works closely with a team of builders, project managers, and vendors to see a project through, from conceptual design to construction and final installation. As architects, we are integral to the structural layout and interior construction of our spaces, specializing in hardscape (interior drawings for built-ins, cabinets, countertops, lighting, plumbing, hardware, etc) as well as providing full interior design services (fabrics, drapery, custom furniture, rugs, and accessories).

Additional Information

Stalburg Kasoff earned a B.S. in Architecture in 1993, followed by a Master of Architecture in 1996 and a Master in Urban Planning in 1997,all from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, including extensive studies in Florence, Italy. She has been a guest lecturer at U-M School of Architecture and has been recognized nationally and locally with several awards and publications. As a member of AICP and NKBA, her experiences ranges from large urban spaces to interior kitchen renovations.
