Vacation Spots as Design Muses II

We continue our virtual summer vacation with a tour of Italy, which provided immense inspiration for designers Krista Nye Nicholas and Tami Ramsay, of CLOTH & KIND. In fact, they called their recent journey “a design inspiration trip.”

As they explain, “Our personal mantra at CLOTH & KIND is to design spaces with history and heart, with story and substance, which invariably includes mixing old with new, and creating rich layers of texture and patina, so for us Italy was the ultimate inspiration.”

Their itinerary was chock-full of many fantastic locations, but they focused on some of the high points.

“Highlights included a private visit with the Countess Anna Barnabò and a tour of her absolutely unbelievable closed-to-the-public 11th-century palace; a leisurely stroll through the Guggenheim in Venice; as well as two full days at the international design & furnishings show, Salone del Mobile in Milan; a divine trip to the top of the Duomo; and an indulgent antiques shopping spree in the La Brera design district in Milan.”

As with all memorable trips, the experience lingers long after the return home. As Krista and Tami said, “This trip continues to inspire us in our design work in large and small ways, as you can imagine.”
